This family enjoyed nobility in Catania, Siracusa, Monte S. Giuliano, and Messina. They possessed the baronies of Bulgarano, Fontana Coperta, Motta Camastra, and others. Notable members include Guglielmo, a corporal of arms under the Martini; Luigi, who served as senator in Catania multiple times between 1515 and 1530; Giovanni Antonio, who held the same position in Catania in 1518-19 and again in Siracusa in 1584-85; Francesco Maria, a senator in Siracusa in 1581-82; Francesco, listed in the Mollica noble register in 1596; Antonino, a juror in Siracusa across several years between 1622 and 1648; Giacinto, who held the same office in 1694-95; Filippo, a juror and senator between 1696 and 1721; Giuseppe, Baron of Fontanacoperta, who was captain of justice in Monte San Giuliano in 1740-41 and again in 1805-6, also serving as senator in 1812-13. Antonino Sardo and Palizzolo, and Pietro Sardo and Palizzolo were pro-conservators in Monte San Giuliano in 1759 and 1778, respectively. A Pietro (possibly the same as the previous) was a patrician in Monte San Giuliano in 1787-88. The official definitive list of noble and titled families of the Sicilian region includes Mr. Pietro Sardo, son of Giuseppe, son of Pietro, with the title of Baron of Fontanacoperta.
