The Nicastro family is a noble family from Messina, Syracuse, and Caltagirone. Giovanni Antonio Nicastro was granted the title of Baron Moschitta in 1638. Several members of the family, including Paolo Francesco, Giacomo, and Giuseppe Nicastro, held positions as senators and mayors in Caltagirone throughout the 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1904, Filippo Nicastro, son of Saverio and Marianna Ventura, received recognition for the title of baron del Lago (from the Ventura family).
